Tonight I went to a user group meeting in Culver City, the UNIX Users Association of Southern California (UUASC), for a talk on private cloud deployments. The speaker from Live Nation/Ticketmaster, Regis Wilson, was informative and described their virtualisation setup. Doni and I ate at some frou frou french cafe close to the venue. 

On the property is a sort of indescribable staircase to nowhere, which runs next to the soon-to-open Expo Line. This tower is a strange helical glass and steel observation deck called the Samitaur Tower. It’s lit up but unfortunately closed at night, off limits from further observation.

I’m going to attend more of these sorts of professional interest groups as a networking opportunity, and to see what I can learn from them as well.
